Legend says that many families in these regions disinterred the bodies of their loved ones and removed their hearts with the belief that the loved ones had turned into vampires which brought ill-luck and deaths in the family. Vampires are also known to be non-humans too and there are stories about animals like bats, dogs and spiders becoming vampires.
Jiang Shi is the Chinese vampire which lives on living beings. Even Korean and Japanese mythologies also have evidence of its own vampires.
